Quarterly Connections
Quarterly Connections: an event organized for the busy professional. We are all so busy today, that we rarely have time to catch up with our friends, and this event allows us to get together and catch up every three months – and meet some new people too.
We kicked off the summer with a networking mixer hosted at TU Gallery. The weather was perfect and we all enjoyed the gorgeous hand-crafted woodwork displayed throughout the gallery, amazing food, beer, wine and mojitos, all while listening to the sounds of local harpist Keri Zwicker. We continued with an afterparty at STIR Lounge and enjoyed one of the best patios in town.
Quarterly Connections wrapped up the summer with Art in the Wild.
We were at the Edmonton Valley Zoo on September 13, 2008 – we invited our friends to join us for one night only as we turned the Edmonton Valley Zoo into the city’s wildest art gallery!
This was a very special QC for us; not only was it the two year anniversary of Quarterly Connections, this evening was a fundraising event hosted by the Valley Zoo Development Society and Alternative Trends magazine. Guests could mingle with fellow art lovers and walk the beautiful grounds as they perused works offered for sale by 29 incredible local and international artists of all disciplines, all in support of the Valley Zoo!
The Valley Zoo Development Society is a charitable organization mandated to raise funds and awareness for the Valley Zoo. In 2005, the City of Edmonton approved a Master Plan to revitalize the Valley Zoo. The Master Plan proposes continuing developments to the zoo over the next ten years. The projected costs for realization of the Master Plan were valued at approximately $30 million in 2005.
The VZDS is committed to raising $8 million in support of the Master Plan for the Valley Zoo. We are confident that donations from individuals, corporations, government and private foundations, will enable us to reach this goal. As Art in the Wild was a fundraising event, our artists generously donated back 25% of all purchases made that evening to the Development Society to help them towards this goal.
It was an amazing night! In addition to the great food, beverages, and music, we all enjoyed Lucy the Asian Elephant, as she demonstrated her love for art by creating a unique oil on canvas painting, and we got to meet some of the zoo’s residents up close and learn about them from the knowledgeable interpretive staff.
Thank you to the more than 400 people that came out to support the Arts and the Zoo in one magical evening. With your support and the artists’ contributions $5,600.00 were raised for the Edmonton Valley Zoo.
We share some of our photos of this magical night with you here, and we encourage you to come out to our next networking mixer.
Quarterly Connections launched in the winter of 2006 – a networking event created for the busy professional.
Friends of friends getting together with one goal in mind – a great time! Alternative Trends magazine hosts a private party every quarter for the busy professional giving them a chance to catch up with colleagues, friends and clients.
